Day Two – September 3, 2021 – Sidney, NE to Custer, SD

We started the day at the Hotel in Sidney, NE. Unfortunately, we were waiting for one of the entourage to get ready to go after getting a tire patched. But we were on the road just a little more than one hour behind schedule.

Headed North out of Sidney, we made a “Rest Stop” at a little convenience store in Berea, Nebraska, and then took an unplanned detour to visit Fort Robinson. However, a second member of the group developed a low tire and had to head to Crawford, NE to get the tire patched. Lunch was at a roadside “Drive-Inn” (walk-up) in Crawford.

Then on to Fort Robinson. It was established in 1885 and was the home of the “Buffalo Soldiers” – two regiments of Black Soldiers.

After leaving Fort Robinson, we made a quick stop at the Cascade Springs rest area on US 71 in South Dakota.

A great spot for a few glamor shots of the Corvettes!

Next stop… Custer, South Dakota. And on the way, one more flat tire and an overheating engine due to a bad thermostat.

(Really? Not again???)

We spent the next three nights at Custer and it became our hub for two days of excursions.
