Day Eight – September 9, 2021 – Red Lodge, MT to Cooke City, MT
Actually, we were sad to have to be leaving the Alpine Lodge in Red Lodge, WY because we had such a good time there. Next, we headed out for the relatively short trip to Cooke City, MT
The first leg of this trip took us up and over Red Creek Vista Pass.
Larry and Cathy put together a short video of the pictures they got on the way to this scenic spot.
Brenda captured this awesome panoramic view from the summit.
The next thing was the climb up and over Beartooth Pass.
And once we had driven over the summit of the pass and were headed down the other side… guess what we encountered?
Yes… while we are riding the brakes and using lower gears to handle the downhill side of the pass, they are bicycling UP the pass. The general consensus was, “good for them, but not our idea of a fun time.
Farther ahead on the downhill side of the pass, we made a “rest stop” at the “Top of the World Store”.
The highway and pass are called “Beartooth” because of one particular peak in the mountain range. The Native Americans believed it resembled a bear’s tooth.
Finally, we arrived at our destination for the day… Cooke City, MT.
Day Eight – Red Lodge, MT to Cooke City, MT by way of Red Creek Vista and Beartooth Pass.
