Members from the Amarillo Area Corvette Club and guests, 26 people in all, set out on a Day-Trip to Perryton, TX on June 22. Ten Corvettes, a Chevy SSR, a restored roadster and a Chevy SUV all in a line.
After gathering at a convenience store on the north side of town, this crew struck out for the open road.
First stop was a comfort stop at the Allsup’s in Fritch. After crossing over the Merideth Dam and through Stinnette, the next stop was a “Kodak Moment” stop at a Windmill display along the route.
Then back on the road for the final leg of the trip to Perryton, TX and the Museum of the Plains.
The Museum of the Plains was fascinating with lots of information about Perryton, the oil industry in that area, the history of the area… going back to the days of the Wooly Mammoth bones that were discovered there on a farmer’s property. There were excellent displays of antiques and loads of information about the people who settled there and made Perryton a city.
Our entourage gathered for a group photo in the lobby of the museum.
Then it was on the road again headed to Canadian, TX for lunch at the Cattlemen’s Exchange, an excellent and historic restaurant.
The food was excellent including a complementary dessert of Bread Pudding, and the Wait Staff was outstanding! They offered to take photos for us, and even included one with their faces in it too… a Group Selfe!
We are looking forward to the next AACC Adventure!
